"A Tribute to the Man - Roth Studios"
By Larry Grossman - RetroVisions

In 1962, when I was fourteen years old, my mother drove me out to this shop in Maywood California so I could have Ed "Big Daddy" Roth personally airbrush a monster in a rod on a sweatshirt for me. I was greatly inspired by this pivotal event, and within a year I was airbrushing shirts myself (sometimes working for the legendary George Barris), occasionally right near Ed's booth at car shows (there's pictures on my Bio Page: http://www.retrovisions.com/scrapbook.htm). So in 2006 when Ed Roth's widow Ileane commissioned me to create this image, I felt that I had somehow come full circle in my art career! -- L.G.
