"Cruisin' Bob's - Summer of '62"
By Larry Grossman - RetroVisions

If you grew up in Los Angeles somewhere between 1950 and 1970, you cruised a Bob's Big Boy, end of story! Depicted here is a scene from the summer of 1962 at the Bob's in Toluca Lake (Burbank) California. Cruising past is a "Satin’s Slaves" biker on his chopped Harley Panhead, and out front a few members of the legendary "Road Kings" car club of Burbank shoot the breeze. Meanwhile two Chevy Nomads (a '56 and '57), a ’40 Ford truck, a '30 Model A sedan, and a custom ’54 Ford, also make the scene. Built in 1949, this is the oldest Bob's Big Boy still standing, and amazingly, on any Friday night it's still L.A.'s most popular cruising scene! -- L.G.
